$20 Million Granted for Fish Markets Redevelopment Plan

NSW Premier Kristina Keneally has announced that the NSW Government will provide up to $20 million for the planned $40 million redevelopment of the Sydney Fish Market.

The plans to  revamp the area to make it more appealing to both residents and tourists include a new boardwalk, renovations to the existing retail and wholesale stores and 75 additional parking spaces. It will also improve the look of the (often critcised) area and introduce greater odour control measures.

The Sydney Fish Markets hope to begin work as soon as all the documentation can be finalised and aim to have all work completed by the end of 2012.
